Christie Beniston from Punch! rug hooking studio was kind enough to invite me to her recent punchneedle demo at the San Diego County Fair last weekend.
First of all, I would never pass up a trip to the fair (I mean, DEEP FRIED OREOS). So I was more than happy to tag along.
Look, people, punchneedle is taking the world by storm! Despite our somewhat out-of-the way location at the fair, we had plenty of visitors stop by and try their hand at the craft.
Christie had a great set up going with no-slip embroidery hoops, the famous oxford punch needle, some yummy wool yarn, and fabric ready to go with a pre-printed pattern. I think we had more than a few converts.
It’s so cool to see new people fall in love with the craft! I met a some really great ladies, including one cutie who created an ah-mazing cupcake design *her first time* doing punchneedle. So impressed!
Something else cool happened at this event — I debuted my new statement earrings! Okay, I’m really holding back in this post because I could talk about these earrings all day.
As some of you know, I started creating punchneedle brooches a couple of months ago and immediately started getting requests for earrings. Well I finally got around to making them and they are my new favorite thing!
Can’t wait to tell you more about these beauties — they are made with all natural fibers and the BEST vintage beads and crystals.
If you haven’t done so already, please sign up on my mailing list to get notified when my shop opens. I swear I’m still working on it, and a store opening in July looks promising!
Okay, back to the important stuff. What’s your favorite thing to eat at the fair?
